After the 53.7¢/L fuel tax credit that mining and construction businesses can claim, the weekly saving is still $708 at light load and $485 at medium load.6
Light loads are also hard on diesel-only sets. Published engine-maker guidance says running below about 30% of rated power can cause wet stacking (unburned fuel and carbon build-up).7 At light load, hybrid + solar cuts about 4 t of CO₂-e a month.8

Diesel-only uses published fuel-use figures for a typical 30 kVA diesel generator set at 25% and 50% load.9 For the hybrid, we assume the generator runs 14% of the time at light load (a published third-party result4), at an efficient 75% load, with the same daily solar output assumed at medium load.
